Complex Trauma often exists because something was missing- validation, safety and empathy, for the neglected, abused, and abandoned parts or emotional consistency and a feeling that is is ok to be me - or feeling seen, heard and understood. It might be centred around a single event or a thousand papercuts. The Safety Net is our way back. It is based on theory, it is also based on the relationship with the therapist. They are symbiotic and act as one. As therapists we need to see what was missing and provide the safety net to allow clients to heal within our care.
The Safety Net is Somatic, Parts and Autonomic Nervous System care, it is EMDR or Neurofeedback, Creative therapy and relational work, but ultimately it is the capacity to join all these together and weave them into a core strength . It is ok to be me.
